Pedro Pereira
Poker Product Manager in London, United Kingdom
I have a thorough understanding of the global poker industry, having spent the past 10 years absorbing all the available information on the poker industry; I acquired a deep knowledge on the industry. I also have a deep knowledge of the Portuguese poker scene and good connections to all the big players in the Portuguese Poker Industry.
Formerly a competition gymnast, during my formative years, I was in essence an artist (music, writing, photography and film-making were my main interests). I worked and volunteered as a pirate radio DJ, Producer and Manager, Club DJ, Band Manager, cultural events organizer, amateur film-maker, photographer, journalist, industrial band performer, Bar Manager and gig promoter. I am a published photographer and film-maker. I moved to Sheffield in 1997 to study and work with the artists I was influenced by. I qualified in Sound Engineering, Music Production and Band Management at RedTape Studios (featured here in this Artic Monkeys video. I worked and volunteered as a Sound Designer, album mixer, producer and Recording Studio manager. Still with a lot of study left in me, I qualified as a Computer Network engineer, and got a career as a Networking Hardware Account Manager but ended up a professional POKER PLAYER by complete accident- I blame the Hendon Mob: I started playing poker in 1999 after watching Late Night Poker on Channel 4. I won the 2003 Hendon Mob Freeroll, which qualified me for the Irish Open. I started winning tournaments in the Sheffield poker scene, becoming Lawrence Gosney's nemesis (1st English WSOP Bracelet winner). I moved to London in 2005 to play live poker; within 3 weeks I'd won my first tournament. I featured in a poker DVD, and won the first ever WSOP structure tournament held in the UK (Gutshot Series of Poker 2005). This got me to the top of Portuguese All Time Money rankings for quite some years.
After I stopped playing to raise a family, I resurfaced as a Marketing Research Product Manager. I quickly realised my heart was in poker and after working for 5 years at PokerStars, I am now a Poker Product Manager for IGT, the biggest iGaming.
