Pedro Cuperman
A distinguished academic and art administrator, Pedro Cuperman holds more than 30 years of experience as an instructor and currently serves as an Associate Professor of Latin American Literature and Literary Theory at Syracuse University. A passionate intellectual, he also pursues interests in philosophy and visual art. Pedro Cuperman’s extensive education began at Colegio Nacional Jose Manuel Estrada. After earning a Bachelor of Arts, Pedro Cuperman embarked on a lengthy and multidisciplinary career path and enrolled at the University of Buenos Aires. An ambitious student, he earned high honors and graduated with a degree in philosophy. Pedro Cuperman then sought to expand his expertise and completed a fellowship at the Centre for Advanced Studies in Philosophy at the Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, India. Pedro Cuperman’s commitment to greater wisdom impels his devotion to the dissection and analysis of a number of academic fields. Past employment roles include serving as a Visiting Professor in the Philosophy Department at the University of Connecticut, Assistant Professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese Languages and Literatures and The Wilf Family Department of Politics at New York University, and Lecturer on Theory at the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture. In his current position at Syracuse University, Pedro Cuperman strives to guide the higher education of graduate students and has served as a Thesis Director for Doctorate and Master’s candidates. In addition to teaching, Pedro Cuperman leads a number of creative ventures. In 1975, he founded and edited the journal Point of Contact: A Publication on the Verbal and Visual Arts. Pedro Cuperman also serves as the Director and Curator of the Point of Contact Gallery at Syracuse University. A resident of Syracuse, New York, Pedro Cuperman includes Vladimir Nabokov and Jorge Luis Borges among his favorite authors.
