Dean, Professor, and Designer in Bloomington, Indiana
I received my BFA from Indiana University and my MFA from Yale University, earning the Norman Ives Memorial Award. In July 2016, I came to Indiana University Bloomington as the Founding Dean of the new School of Art + Design, which became the Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture + Design in 2019. Previously, I was Chair of the Department of Art and Professor of Graphic Design at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. I also served as the Co-Director of the Armstrong Institute for Interactive Media Studies (AIMS), Founding Director of the Miami Design Collaborative (MDC), and Lead Faculty of the Miami Graphic Design program. I was named the School of Fine Arts Crossan Hayes Curry Distinguished Educator in 2000 and the Naus Family Faculty Scholar in 2008. In addition to teaching, I maintained a design consultancy, Peg Faimon Design, and received national and international recognition for my design work. I’m also the author and designer of Design Alliance, and the co-author, with John Weigand, of The Nature of Design, both published in 2003. My third book, The Designer’s Guide to Business and Careers: How to Succeed on the Job or on Your Own, was published in 2009 by HOW Design Books.
