Ms. Wu operationalizes psychological theories using advanced technologies including Virtual/Augmented/Mixed Reality, Computational Linguistics, and Artificial Intelligence, to improve human-computer and human-human interaction to support Deep Space Exploration missions and human performance applications on Earth. She secures funding and leads research for diverse government and commercial customers. She has authored more than 60 peer reviewed publications, two book chapters, and is a named inventor on 3 patents.
Previously to joining UTRC, she served as Sr. Research Scientist at SIFT leading multiple projects to support space exploration and military applications. As a Research Associate at Honeywell Research Laboratory, she designed and implemented the user interface and conducted studies of the NIST-Honeywell IoT smart home. Prior to joining Honeywell, Ms. Wu was a human factors expert for MGI Software/Roxio International where her work garnered multiple industry-recognized awards and OEM contracts with Intel and Sony.
Ms. Wu has served as session chair and co-chair for academic conferences and workshops including VR and serious games for health, has been an invited participant at NASA and ESA workshops, the UN, and has served as an invited speaker at the National Academies of Sciences, National Geographic sponsored Science and Media Awards, the Museum of Science Fiction, the Humans2Mars Summit, the Austin Film Festival, and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She excels at translating across and leading multi-disciplinary teams. She is driven by the need to transition sound scientific research into technologies that provide real societal benefit.
