Peggy Sheehy

As a true pioneer in virtual world and games in education, Peggy is sought out for advice, curriculum direction, professional development and inspiration. Peggy describes these times as "The Metaissance" and allows her play ethic to inform her work with students, teachers, and administrators. As a "Teacher on a Mission", Peggy encourages educators to reclaim their passion, challenges them to rethink their role, and shares her first-hand experience in bringing the tools of this generation into the classroom to increase authenticity, autonomy and agency to create compelling learning.

For the past seventeen years, Peggy has served as a classroom teacher, district technology trainer, curriculum developer, school library media specialist, online instructor, international consultant, Guild Master, TV Host, ISTE Docent, and all around Chief of Mischief in her mission to make schools relevant. Peggy is a featured teacher in "The Game Believes in You" by USA Today Education Reporter, Greg Toppo (Ch. 7), and was selected to be a Teacher Fellow for Filament Games this past summer. She currently serves 6th-grade students at Suffern Middle School, Ramapo Central School District, in New York, in a humanities program.

In addition to her work in schools, Peggy is Guild Master of the Cognitive Dissonance Educator Guild in World of Warcraft (Sister of Elune ~ Alliance server) and is a founding officer of 3D Game Lab, as well as The Games for Education Initiative. Games4Ed (G4E) ---a newly formed initiative designed to take a critical look at furthering opportunities to use games as a vehicle to advance learning opportunities for our students.
