Peggy Dougherty Snyder, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist with over 35 years of clinical experience. She has worked with children, families, adults, and couples.

She was employed as a staff psychologist at Prairie View Hospital and Mental Health Center in Newton Kansas from 1977 until 1980. During that time she also served as consultant to the District Court in Harvey and McPherson Counties in Kansas. In 1980, she relocated to San Diego where she opened a private practice.

In her private practice, Dr. Snyder continued to work with clients of all ages. Her preferred clinical orientation has been Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with a specialty in Clinical Hypnosis.

Peggy retired from clinical practice in 2012 which allows her more time to pursue her passion of writing. Her self-help book THE TEN MINUTE COGNITIVE WORKOUT: How to Manage Your Mood and Change Your Life in Ten Minutes a Day was published by Horizons Press in November, 2013. The book teaches a simple, easy to learn exercise designed to improve mood, manage stress, and change behavior. Despite its ease of execution and minimal time investment, the Ten Minute Cognitive Workout is surprisingly powerful. Peggy has used the technique successfully with many of her clients. Peggy is also an award winning playwright whose work has had more than thirty productions. Her plays have been performed in New York City, San Diego, Los Angeles, Boca Raton, Houston, San Francisco, Great Britain, Toronto, and elsewhere. She is a member of The Dramatists Guild of America, Inc., The Alliance of Los Angeles Playwrights, and Scripteasers, a script development group in San Diego. Peggy is currently working on her first novel. In her playwriting and other fiction writing, she uses the pen name, Peggy Dougherty.

Peggy's leisure activities and interests include ballroom dancing, the study of the Spanish language, and travel.
