Pep Tweet Project
"A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees." - Amelia Earhart
The idea behind Pep Tweet Project began as I was lying in bed one sunny weekend. Through my work on a social media business account for a friend, I was reaching out to folks in our demographic to tweet unsolicited words of encouragement. I thought it would be perceived as a little hokey, but it seemed the sunny words I was doling out were much needed.
That spring weekend, I had the idea to take it to the next level--sans business account or target demographics. These words of encouragement should be for anyone. Thus, the Pep Tweet Project was born at @PepTweetProject.
Tweets are posted by mainly one individual as time allows. Ideally, everyone who ever needed some encouragement would receive it, but one person can only do so much. That's where you come in (see FAQ #4 below).
Some questions you may be asking...
- What do you want? Is this spam? Nope, this happy train is legit in that the goal is to spread positivity around Twitter. If it spills into other facets of people's lives, a la a pay-it-forward kind of vibe, all the better. We're not selling anything, and we certainly don't want to offend anyone.
- What's the point? Simple. There's a barage of negativity in the world; why not create some positivity to help balance it out?
- But, seriously, what are the words of a stranger going to do? Well, they're certainly not going to hurt, right? Never underestimate even the smallest acts of kindness.
- What if I want to join in the movement? Easy! Use the hashtag #peptweetproject. Spread that joy like Nutella on warm toast!
- I have another question. How do I contact you? Click the "Email Me" button up at the top of the page. Or tweet me. :)
