Perry Bacon

Perry Bacon Jr. joined The Washington Post on a internship while still an undergraduate at Yale University. Since that time, Perry Bacon has written hundreds of articles on politics and public policy in various publications, including National Journal and The Courier-Journal in his hometown. More recently as part of his second tenure at The Washington Post, Perry Bacon authors “In Session,” a column that monitors the activities of the United States Congress. Perry Bacon is a regular commentator on the political talk show circuit and appears on such shows as CBS’s Face the Nation, and the ABC webcast Top Line. Perry Bacon joined Time magazine’s Washington bureau in 2002 after an internship at The Washington Post.

As part of a major news magazine at the nexus of national politics, Perry Bacon covered the 2002, 2004, and 2006 elections. In 2004, Perry Bacon reported on the Howard Dean and John Kerry presidential campaigns. Returning to The Washington Post in 2007, Perry Bacon gained prominence as one of the paper’s lead writers on the campaign trail, chronicling the campaigns of then-Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. Perry Bacon has also written on subjects such as health care, race, and religion in politics. In addition to his work at The Washington Post, Perry Bacon contributes to The Root, a web magazine focused on African-American issues.
