A Forbes Top 400 business professional, Pete Briger serves as the Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors at Fortress Investment Group LLC in San Francisco, where he oversees the firm's Credit fund business.
Outside of his professional commitments, Pete Briger exercises his leadership skills as a member of the boards of several organizations, including the Princeton University Investment Company, the Hospital for Special Surgery, the Central Park Conservancy, and the Global Fund for Children. A private non-profit group, the Central Park Conservancy manages Central Park on behalf of New York City and has invested more than $600 million in the park since the group's inception in 1980. The Global Fund for Children helps community-based organizations around the world improve their capacities to serve children from the most at-risk demographics.
Before accepting his role at Fortress a decade ago, Peter Briger spent 15 years with Goldman Sachs, where he gained experience in foreign investing, especially in Asian markets. During his time at the firm, Briger assumed leadership roles in specialized groups dealing with distressed debt in Asian markets, special investment opportunities in Asia, loan sales and trading, and Asian real estate. In addition, Peter Briger belonged to the Global Control and Compliance Committee, the Japan Executive Committee, and the Asian Management Committee. He became a partner with Goldman Sachs in 1996.
A graduate of Princeton University, Pete Briger also studied at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned his Master of Business Administration.
