Peter Kalbfleisch

Meet Peter Kalbfleisch, a long-time Vice Principal for the Waterloo Region District School Board. Peter is passionate about accessible education for all students and as an experienced administrator, he has dedicated his long-standing career to education.

Peter graduated from McMaster University in 1993 and went on to earn a Diploma in Education from the University of Canberra in 1999. His education and global experience gave him the training and knowledge to forge a successful career in teaching.

In addition to his career in education, Peter is committed to supporting and contributing to his hometown and has been involved in several charitable organizations over the years, primarily those focused on improving the community for all who live there.

After tragically losing a friend to suicide in 2006, Peter’s approach to charity took on more urgency, leading him to co-found KW Legacy, a Waterloo Region organization that raises money and provides support to a variety of needs and gaps in the community.

Since it started in 2014 KW Legacy has dedicated its efforts to supporting students who show potential to be future community leaders through its scholarship program while also supporting local agency Waterloo Region Suicide Prevention council with money raised through an annual gala. Both initiatives are close to Peter’s own heart.

KW Legacy provides scholarships ($5,000+) each year to Waterloo Region and Waterloo Catholic Secondary students. Since kicking off in 2010, KW Legacy has been able to provide close to one million dollars in financial support through scholarship dollars, allowing students to pursue their own dreams. All KW Legacy scholars are provided with life-long connections to the organization and its network with the hope that they will take on a role as the next generation - continuing the legacy of service in the community.

KW Legacy has also raised over $150,000 in funds to support the Waterloo Region Suicide Prevention Council - providing necessary funds to support mental health support and programming in the community.

As part of his work with KW Legacy, Peter serves on the organization’s advisory board, where he is responsible for managing strategic support, outlining bylaws, and overseeing annual general meetings with shareholders.

Outside of his philanthropic and professional pursuits, Peter Kalbfleisch is a dedicated family man who enjoys playing sports. He also enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, biking, camping, and fitness training.
