I'm lucky to have had a golden childhood [diamond, probably] followed by an exciting & fulfilling youth, a rewarding & interesting middle age with more delight than any normal person could properly expect. It's a major effort to avoid being smug. Life continues to provide silver linings to the few tiny clouds that crop up from time to time to make life more interesting.
