Peter is a multi-nominated independent Screenwriter/Filmmaker. In 2014 Peter would write and direct The Bridge a film set in his native city limerick, it would tell the story of Gerry a working class man driven over the edge by a crumbling economy,Gerry goes to a well-known bridge and phones his despairing wife, Gerry subsequently never returns home from that bridge!!
Peter first attempt at film-making was met with an overwhelming response throughout the whole of Ireland,appearing on most of the country's newspapers and radio stations. A nomination for best screenplay for The Bridge followed and one newspaper was quoted"The Bridge visceral and raw and Peter McNamara is a force to be reckoned with"
In late 2014 Peter was selected as one of three winners of the FilmLimerick script-writing/film bursary, The writer/director Gerard Stembridge (Ordinary Decent Criminals and About Adam) would mentor Peter to write Day Off a harrowing story of how early age dementia and effects marriage and everyday life and how we as people struggle deal with the disorder.
The short film which has Composer Patrick Cassidy (Calvary, Hannibal, Kingdom Of Heaven) creating the score. With Simon McGuire (RTE, TV3, TG4 The Suffering Kind) editing and Gerry Stembridge as executive producer on-board it would go onto be picked up to broadcast by RTE with a release date set for late 2015.
