Peter began his professional life in theological and cross-cultural ministry, a formation that sharpened his ability to listen deeply, interpret complex systems, and work comfortably across cultures. Those skills have guided his work ever since. He moved into the plastics and packaging world in the early 1980s with Witt Plastics, bringing a people-centered mindset to the technical and commercial challenges of materials and healthcare markets.
After helping build a successful distribution company serving the medical, pharmaceutical, and electronics industries, the business was acquired by GE’s Polymerland division in 1990. Peter later joined American Mirrex as Product Manager and Director of Marketing, focusing on pharmaceutical and healthcare packaging solutions.
In 1996, he founded Montesino Associates, expanding the firm in 2000 with Montesino Technologies. Over the past three decades, Montesino has become known for its clear, independent perspective on polymers, healthcare packaging, sterilization, regulatory strategy, and materials-driven innovation. Peter works closely with global leaders such as AbbVie, Amcor, Clariant, Honeywell, Pfizer, and Takeda, offering insights that connect material science, market forces, and long-range strategy.
His recent work includes research in biopharmaceutical materials, advanced barrier structures, PFAS and fluoropolymer policy, new sterilization modalities, and the evolving standards that support “smart” packaging. Through writing, conferences, and the Montesino Lens, he helps the industry see change early and respond with intelligence and purpose.
Fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, Peter leads packaging insights throughout Latin America.
