By 2006, Peter Briger was on Fortress Investment Group's board of directors and was promoting his vision for the company's continued growth. He wanted them to become a publicly traded company.
On February 9, 2007, Fortress Investment Group launched on the New York Stock Exchange and became the United State's first huge private equity firm to be traded publicly. Elected as co-chairman of the board in 2009, Pete Briger has guided the firm’s operations in various management roles since 2002. He currently oversees the investment group’s credit fund and real estate business.
