Seattle, Washington, United States

Although only halfway to 50, I am certain that the experiences I've had in my life could warrant a bestselling memoir--and I mean that in a good way! Born in the tiny city of Aarhus, Denmark, I was raised in a bicultural family (my mother is American). After my father accepted a job opportunity in the US, we were whisked away to sunny San Diego, California. I never really fit in as a kid until we moved back to Copenhagen, Denmark when I was 16. Attending the local international school allowed me to make friends with students from all over the world, not to mention we had an amazing city posing as the backdrop of our lives.

Because my father's job was within the alternative, "green" energy industry, we had to travel and move around frequently. At an early age I felt most at home in international airport terminals, felt most at peace gazing out the window of a plane to cityscapes, and happiest with a map in my hand. My upbringing as a result has largely defined who I am today: I love experiencing new cultures, I love to travel, and I love writing about it.

After spending seven years in Denmark, I started to really miss my life in the US. I missed the diversity, the possibilities, and the openness (in other words...the imagery of any Lana Del Rey music video). Most of all, though, I felt a calling to move to San Francisco. By sheer luck, I ended up transferring to the University of San Francisco on a whim which turned out to be the best decision of my life. After graduating, I began my career at AOL Advertising and then transitioned to Shutterlfy Inc. where I work on the display advertising team.

What else about me? I love reading Salon.com, The Huffington Post, any magazine from National Geographic to Los Angeles Magazine, and I love blogging (currently getting my new website in order). I'm also a pretty darn good cook, particularly when it comes to Thai and Vietnamese (my two favorite cuisines). Consequently, I love hosting dinner parties. And let's face it --I'm a stickler for any reality show and pop culture.
