Peter Brereton
PhD candidate in the Atomic, Mesoscopic and Optical Physics Group at the Cavendish Laboratory in Cambridge University, UK. My thesis work has been focused specifically on the control of single InGaAs quantum dots using frequency swept optical pulses. I have experience in ultrafast laser systems, confocal microscopy, working at cryogenic temperatures and semiconductor device fabrication.
I spent 9 years as a submarine officer in the U.S. Navy, with experience as a technical manager supervising teams of up to 30 technicians during nuclear reactor refueling as well as small groups of highly trained sailors under extremely stressful conditions.
Currently looking for positions in research and industry in the fields of photonics, quantum information processing and semiconductor devices. Committed to utilizing my experience as a manager as well as my hands-on technical background to foster innovation and success.
I am joined on this journey by an incredible wife, Amy and my incredible twins, Peter and Isabelle.
