Experienced business leader and former CFO Peter Heintzelman has been working in the energy industry for more than two decades. Peter Heintzelman began his career as an analyst and operations manager at Brown & Root/Halliburton Corp. in Houston and Haiti shortly after graduating from the University of Texas with a bachelor’s in economics.

He rapidly advanced in the industry to such roles as manager at Enron Corp., Head of Energy (various regions) at Standard Bank, consulting vice president of finance at Shelf Drilling, and CFO at T5 Oil and Gas. Mr. Heintzelman also earned an MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona during this time.

At present, Mr. Heintzelman serves as the CEO and President of Cobb Electric Membership Corporation (EMC), in Georgia, which is the largest electric cooperative in the nation by revenue. The company announced that he would be assuming this position in 2018 after the current CEO, W.T. “Chip” Nelson, retired. Since starting at Cobb EMC, Mr. Heintzelman has cemented himself as an innovator at the company. His varied history in the energy industry has given him a unique perspective in guiding the cooperative.

Cobb EMC has earned the title of fifth most reliable electric utility in the nation, and with its subsidiary, Gas South one of Georgia’s top three gas marketers. Through Heintzelman's vision, the company has become the first utility in the country to provide free overnight electric vehicle charging to consumers thanks to the company’s Niteflex residential rate program.
