Peter Knowz

Peter Knowz is an Orlando-seasoned hip-hop artist who found his roots in beats at an early age, as he remembers, "watching early videos of Big Daddy Kane and KRS ONE". Born in '82, it didn't take long until his adolescent curiosity inspired him to pick up his first mic in '96. Peter Knowz confesses that by "working on my craft and by trying to perfect it for ten years now" he has been able to be "hands-on a 100 percent of the writing process" [sic] – a commendable claim.

A musician's ability to identify himself is crucial, and Knowz identifies a portion of his rhythmic delivery and stylized presence as being influenced by Black Thought (chief MC for The Roots). Tellingly, he decided to take a stab at emceeing as he admits, "Honestly, The Roots 'Proceed' made me want to rap." His combined inspiration from Black Thought, The Roots, and a laundry list of other hip-hop classics can be heard in the A Tribe Called Quest wah-waving beats and his old-school lip. In his music and in the music he listens to, Knowz strives for gripping content and then digs around for better sound. When asked if there might be anything he wants to communicate through his music that he hasn't yet done, Knowz responded, "I hate the radio. Diversify yourself, bitches. His blunt, ease-to-agree-with cheeky punch made me laugh.

Between his status in the studio and search for affordable mastering, Peter Knowz is diligently piecing together an album to let Orlando locals and cyber-diggers get to know Peter Knowz. Check out his music here and keep an eye out for his new tunes in the future.
