Emeritus Professor Peter Priest, 1962 - 1998; International Trade Consultant; Travel planner, promoter & organizer negotiating and leading study and mission trips to Russia . trip groups to Russia and former Soviet Union countries since 1974 with the help of Russia-based team members in the fields of Art, Music, Church Missions, Sports, Professional Business & unique people-to-people experiences.

While at Rose he taught Russian, French, Linguistics, Science Fiction, and many humanities and world literature courses. He is best known for introducing the first Science Fiction as a literature course and starting the four-year Russian technical translation certificate program and conducting Russian language and culture programs in Moscow, Leningrad, and Krasnodar.

Since his retirement he has been active in leading Volunteers in Mission (to Russia) for the United Methodist Church and maintaining and building relationships with the foremost science mathematics, and engineering universities and institutes in Russia. Passion for travel during his missionary trips leaded to form a New Planet Travel team to promote and help with organizing, planning and taking groups overseas.

While in San Diego, he is looking forward to bringing groups up-to-date on Rose-Hulman and its new president, Rose’s historical connections with several leading Soviet universities, the proposed new (2014 quota for H1B visas) the so-called “brainiac”guest-worker visas, Russian higher education student unions, the key to attracting or recruiting talent, and mission opportunities in modern Russia after the collapse of central planning and state control. Professor Priest will be happy to speak to your alumni group, Rotary, Kiwanis, or Lions Club, corporations.
