Peter Richards

Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

I regard my biography as my future. I bring to today some characteristics that may be relevant to your getting a fix on who I might be in future.

I am Canadian with history on both Atlantic and Pacific coasts, education in Montreal and Toronto and work experience in the usual Canadian cities.

I have visited probably 100 countries and, more relevantly perhaps, lived and worked for a year or (often) many more in ten countries on four continents. At any given moment I speak four languages well enough to function effectively.

I have worked in foreign affairs, international banking, non-governmental organizations, universities (research projects and teaching), youth/cultural/development education exchanges. But I have never thought of myself as diplomat, banker, prof or any other "profession" that might limit my scope in my own eyes or those of others.

I have made my way around Indonesia and the other countries of Southeast Asia, the Asian Subcontinent (mostly India), west and north Africa, and Central and South America usually without a fixed itinerary or period of time.

The photo here is from half my life time ago. I have a more interesting face now, but this photo comes close to the me I still think I am when I'm not shaving.
