Victoria Petersen

Victoria is a Digital Consultant for Back Alley Concepts (BAC). She creates websites, designs MicroSites for Facebook pages, and dabbles in graphic design. Victoria is also the Technology Manager at the Mancos Public Library. Bringing together her love of reading, libraries, and technology has made this a match made in heaven. Her responsibilities at the library include network management, staff technology training, and patron workshops. Victoria is a co-chair of the Colorado Association of Libraries (CAL) Second Life Interest Group, is the Web/Library 2.0 Coordinator for the CAL 2011 Annual Conference, is a member of the CAL Communications Committee, and is a presenter for the CAL Continuing Education Committee. She believes that technology and social media provides wonderful tools for learning, providing information, and connecting with people. Victoria has been creating content on the web since 1997, beginning with code manipulation on ancientsites. She then went on to learn HTML, web development applications, image manipulation programs, and visual design by reading books, and taking a combination of online and traditional college-level courses. Victoria landed her first freelance job in 1999. Since then she has designed, created and maintained various websites and ecommerce sites, using hand coded HTML, a web development program or a content management system. Most recently she is launching a new online political campaign for Elect Tim Hunter, using a blend of a traditional website, and social media – Facebook page & Twitter stream. On the personal side, she has a wonderful husband (and partner at BAC), and two terrific boys. They live and play in Southwest Colorado.
