EMPLOYMENT

1999 - 2006

Managed the recovery, restoration and design of the garden at Bantry House.

1998

Research and restoration with proposals from replanting of a 1930’s villa garden in Sussex, England.

1996 - 97

Commissioned by Bantry House, Co. Cork, Eire to re-design the planting scheme for a principal area known as Diana’s bed and an italianate parterre C19th.

1994 - 95

Established conservation consultant and freelance landscape garden designer. Commenced work on a series of theatrical classical inspired figurative fountain masks.

1992 - 93

MA Postgraduate study. The conservation and restoration of historic landscapes, parks and gardens. The King’s Manor, York University, case studies included: Prospect Cottage; Dungeness, Kent - Derek Jarman; Greyfriars, Winchelsea, East Sussex. Dissertation title: Proposals to re-establish The Vauxhall Gardens (a lost domain).

1989 - 1991

Studied garden design, horticultural studies, landscape and garden history at Birbeck College, London.

1985 - 88

Theatrical influence of Pina Bausch and the Wuppertaler Tanztheatre (periodic visits to Wuppertal, W Germany to study their repertoire and works in progress). Developing skills to incorporate design and the application of theatrical space within the context of gardens/landscape. Commenced work on restoration of fin de siecle garden (Clough Williams Ellis) featured American Vogue, Sept ’91 (for Lucy and Bryan Ferry).

1981 - 84

Established landscape gardening practice during this time. Trained at London School of Contemporary Dance and the Merce Cunningham School, New York - dancing and gardening in London and New York.

1979

First Landscape project.

1978

Graduated from St Martin’s School of Art (2:1). Degree show consisted of performance, installations and slide projections; juxtaposing ideas of natural (informal) and synthetic (formal) characteristics, portrayed through biographical memory time/space.
