Peter Vrettos

Melbourne

I am graduate of the Industrial design program at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. I have a passion for design thinking and product innovation with a keen interest in developing meaningful product design for commercial markets.

At RMIT I undertook a studio with leading Melbourne product design consultancy Charlwood Design. Designing a heart disease early detection monitor and system, which was chosen to be exhibited at the Ausmedtech Australian Medical Technology Conference. The monitoring device aimed at detecting the onset of heart disease using ECG, while addressing people’s reservations about visiting the doctor and affordability.

In my final year I developed an adaptive walking aid using a range of innovative materials and technologies which included a light powered by the heat produced by your hand. The user driven project aimed at designing with people that have a range of capabilities and skills, past experiences, wants and opinions to create a functional, viable design solution.

I enjoy the drawing and model making part of the design process and believe in questioning everything, listening, capturing insights, multidisciplinary partnerships, exploring possibilities, testing ideas, failures, imagination and optimism, while creating a narrative for my design direction and intended user to improve the product experience.
