I'm Petra Doma, an academic with a fascination for Japanese culture and theatre. I hold a BA in Oriental Languages and Cultures from Eötvös Loránd University, and an MA in Theatre Studies from Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church. My PhD, completed in 2020 at the University of Pécs, focused on the intersection of Japanese and Western theatre in the early 20th century.
In my research, I explored the lives and perspectives of three influential actresses of that era: Sadayakko Kawakami, Hanako, and Sumako Matsui. Today, I'm an assistant professor at Károli Gáspár University, where I share my passion for Japanese and East-Asian theatre history.
