Welcome to my about me page!

I have been a Latin teacher at Westminster Academy for eight wonderful years, and I am so excited for this new school year to finally begin!

I became interested in learning Latin when I lived in Italy when I was 10-11. Seeing the ruins of the Colosseum, walking along the Via Appia, climbing on the Temple of Apollo opened an entire world for me. We don't live alone here at the beginning of the 21st century: we follow in the steps of giants! It was a short journey from that experience to studying Latin and wanting to teach it.

I believe fiercelly in students having an innate desire to learn. I want every class period to stimulate and grow that desire, so we speak Latin, act in skits, build replicas of great buildings, and even wear togas on occasion. Learning Latin is hard work, but, by keeping always before our eyes the goal of seeing the culture, thoughts, and experiences of the Romans through their writings, we know that the effort is well worth it.

When I'm not teaching, you might find me at the theatre, either watching or acting. I love to tap dance and sing, and try to do both as often as possible. I also spend an inordinate amount of time and money reading and drinking Diet Dr. Pepper.
