From a young age, I remember always being around animals. Both of my parents were veterinarians and I was always doing something at their offices. It definitely shaped me as a person. I view things differently than most people. Animals have always been my life, and they have always come first. Even with my parents, we could go on vacations if no one could house sit. We always had a lot of animals and when I was a kid I thought it was just normal to have seven dogs and five cats that lived in the house. When I would meet people and tell them how many animals we had, I was always shocked when they were surprised. I had more stories than anyone could ever imagine. It was always fun rubbing puppies or having your arms forearm length inside a dog’s abdomen. It always gave a certain respect for the job my parents did. I always thought vet school was for me until I got to college. I learned that passion for the horse and beef industry. I always knew I had a passion for horses, but beef was a new thing for me. I have learned so much and I have gained respect for the farmers. I had worked with cattle but not extensively like I have the past few years. I hope to have my own herd to take care of someday.
