Phathutshedzo Mudau

Phathu Mudau is an independent registered Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAPASA) and a registered Environmental Assessor (LGSETA). He is a consultant and Managing Member of Gomelelo Environmental Consultants currently living in Pretoria West. Phathu holds a B.Sc. Degree in Environmental Sciences, focusing on environmental impact assessments, ecology, and resource management. He is a highly motivated, ambitious, and self-driven individual with excellent organizational skills.

Phathu has over 8 years of significant experience in providing technical and strategic environmental advice for engineering/development-based projects. He offers practical and achievable environmental management solutions, guidelines, and mitigation measures. He has extensive working knowledge of environmental legislation and policy requirements.

His areas of expertise include Sustainable Land-use Planning and Guideline Development, Strategic Environmental Assessments, compliance monitoring and auditing (Environmental Control Officer services), applications for Environmental Authorisations including mining rights, Water Use License applications, completing a number of Environmental Management Plans/Programmes, Solid Waste Management Plans. Additionally, he provides support with the capturing, analyzing, managing, and displaying of spatial referenced data to facilitate decision making, using Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

At the core of his values is the creation of a platform that seeks to establish equal educational opportunities for all, particularly academically deserving and financially needy youth. Phathu has been a volunteer and projects coordinator of the Thusanani Foundation since 2013. It is an organization that aims to respond to challenges encountered by the youth from marginalized communities across South Africa to access and succeed in post-schooling opportunities.

His main responsibilities range from day-to-day management, business development, team leading, technical assessments, and report compilation to providing technical advice to project developers and correspondence with competent authorities.
