JOURNEY Phi Degrees has developed its characteristic sound within the boundaries of techno, tech-house and progressive house. They have introduced their fresh and unique take on live-electronic music. As strict as dance beats can get, the band opens up the format to sounds of improvisation and intuition, which adds a soul and charisma to make the sound alive! Over the last year, the band has made some distinct moves that made news! - Tainted Buddah Records released the EP - Sew What - Worked with interface developers in Geneva from Future Instruments - Played at the Electron Festival in Geneva - Live Connections workshop - They won the jury award from MyFavDJ.in as a breakthrough artist to get the “Ticket to the Festival” award. - They were chosen to play the pro final round of MTV’s Ultimate DJ Championship. - Phi Degrees went international and played a slamming gig at the Trilogy in Dubai. - The Sunburn CD featured their original track “Access Axis” on the compilation along with tracks from some top international producers. - They were chosen to be among the top 6 producers in the country with their remix of Nadia Ali’s “Love Story”. - The band played a live set of completely new original material at the main stage of the Sunburn Festival. Different gigs have seen various avatars of the band. Sometimes they play straight DJ sets and on a different occasion the stage can involve an extravagant set of up to six musicians! The flavours of sound come from all the sensibilities they dabble in. Pranam, the sonic guru and percussion mafia also dabbles with synth lines and melodic interludes. While AJ plays blues and jazz guitar riffs, MC Zen spits some free style verses that can leave audiences stunned with the rhyme and rhythm. BD unleashes his years of training in the Sitar along with all the rock 'n' roll and psy- trance stage experience from back-in-the-day to bring out a completely new blend of sound motifs.
