Phil Dixon
Phil Dixon is the Director (VP) of Technology for Betfair where he powers the company’s ambition through the creation, development and delivery of world-class products and technology. Phil leads Betfair’s global engineering and technology operations teams to deliver the products used by 4 million customers worldwide. Betfair is the world’s largest betting community, serving 10 billion page views per week and transaction volumes exceeding all the European stock exchanges combined.
Prior to Betfair, Phil was the VP of Engineering for Shopzilla.com one of the largest and most comprehensive shopping networks on the planet. At Shopzilla, Phil led an inspired, global technology team to deliver excellence across Shopzilla’s product portfolio. Each day millions of passionate consumers shop for virtually anything via Shopzilla.com, Bizrate.com and the Shopzilla Network.
Phil was also co-founder, director and CTO of Project.net — a premier provider of Enterprise Project Management software. From its inception in 1999 to over 200,000 seats deployed worldwide, Phil was a driving force behind the company’s launch, its technology innovation, its sales success and its eventual sale. A serial entrepreneur, Phil founded or had senior leadership roles with numerous other high-technology companies including NetProfit Investment Technologies, Rockwell Semiconductor systems, Sourcefinder where he served as Chief Technology Officer; and Internet Services Corporation a full-service Internet services company.
Phil studied Mathematics and Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. Phil lives in London with his family and has lots of varied interests including sailing, golf and flying airplanes.
