Philip Durnford
Project Manager and Business Developer in Stavanger, Norway
Since 1997 my home has been Norway. I came for work and stayed for love.
In 2005 we adventured overseas. I moved away from human factors consulting in a “Big 5” consultancy and became a "following spouse"; Calgary and then Kuala Lumpur.
Those vibrant cities gave me work and play with business startups, homeless people, social change, performing our best and improvising. I learned more about how our process of being ourselves and being with others can join us in common cause.
In 2013, I helped the Stavanger-based, high-tech startup that hired me win an innovation prize, with our product and business model for the wind power industry. It was thrilling.
For a fella who started out as a naval officer (yes, it's true) this has been an unexpected journey.
Now I'm looking for other opportunities.
As well as English, Norwegian and laughably basic French and Spanish, I can communicate engineering, earth sciences, renewables, project management, humanity-at-work, "wow" experiences and triple bottom line. I'm learning to speak "Lean"; the works of Eric Ries, Jake Knapp and others keep my fires burning.
So let's chat.
