PHILIP KANIGAN – Notary
[email protected]
I am a Notary Public with an office located in Castlegar, British Columbia. Due to the geographical proximity of the surrounding area; our office is able to serve the Castlegar, Trail, Nelson, Beaver Valley, and Slocan Valley areas. In addition, due to our electronic and online capabilities, we are able to act for clients virtually anywhere in the world. For example, in the past we have represented clients in Indonesia, China, various states in the USA, and most provinces in Canada.
I was commissioned as a BC Notary in 2007. Since that time I have established a very busy notary practice in Castlegar BC, and have also found the time to serve on numerous committees of the Society of Notaries Public of BC, including the Business Development Committee, the Legislative and Bylaw Committee, and the Family Law Education Task Force. In addition, I have acted as a mentor to several students in the SFU MA program and Notary Preparatory Course. Currently I serve as a Director on the Board of the Society of Notaries Public of BC and am a member of the Legislation and Bylaws Committee, Practice Inspection Committee and the Membership and Credentials Committee of the Society of Notaries Public of BC.
In the past I have held numerous volunteer positions as a Board member of various organizations, including the Castlegar Minor Hockey Association, Beaver Valley and Castlegar Junior Hockey Associations, Central Okanagan Hospice Association, the Kelowna Mental Health Association (both director and Vice-President) and have been an active member of Rotary International.
In addition to my commission as a BC Notary, I hold a Bachelor of Science degree (BSc.) and a Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree (DMD) from the University of British Columbia and I still maintain my membership in the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD). My educational background also includes courses in financial management (Canadian Securities Institute), political science, psychology, philosophy, and astronomy.
Prior to establishing my notary practice, I had a very successful dentistry practice in Castlegar, BC; for close to 20 years, and am gratified that many of my current notary clients are former dental patients.
I can usually be seen running down the local highway every morning.
