Philip Hoey
Director of CoinJournal in Belfast, UK
If you were to draw a Venn diagram with three intersecting circles, one labelled ‘finance’, the second labelled ‘content’, and the third labelled ‘SEO’, then in the spot where all three met you might be surprised to find an Irishman who goes by the name of Phil 🧐
Hello there! My daughter often calls me ‘Big Fella’, my siblings usually call me 'Pip', but my friends always call me Phil 👋
I’m a seasoned editor, SEO and team leader with 16 years’ experience in the financial services industry, most of it in fintech.
With a particular focus on financial content and financial news, I’ve spent the majority of my career analysing and writing about personal finance, investments, insurance, alternative finance and the financial markets.
After graduating with an MA from the University of Aberdeen I began my career in the City of London in 2006, where I qualified as a financial adviser and provided financial commentary to tiptop publications like Reuters, Bloomberg, the Financial Times, The Telegraph, The Guardian, The Scotsman, Yahoo! Finance, Thisismoney, Moneyweek and The Times.
In my current role as Director of CoinJournal, I manage a team of blockchain, cryptocurrency and DeFi specialists comprising journalists, editors, marketers, developers and translators, with our crypto news, reviews and comparison content published in 21 different languages and read by millions of people.
I’m a Member of the London Institute of Banking and Finance (LIBF), an Associate of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI), a Fellow of the Institute of Data & Marketing (IDM), and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Journalists (CIoJ).
And (according to my son and my daughter, at least) I'm also a really nice guy, and the best-est lunchbox packer-er this side of the Atlantic (they might not have much to say about blockchains, but they have a lot to say about lunch).
