Philip Hickman

Philip Hickman manages a Columbus, Mississippi, school district encompassing thousands of students and hundreds of personnel. As the superintendent, his responsibilities include driving student achievement by ensuring that education standards are properly implemented, overseeing the district’s budget, and building relationships with community organizations. Philip Hickman’s achievements in that position include balancing the budget after years of shortfalls and expanding district athletic facilities.

In preparation for his administrative career, Philip Hickman studied at Saint Louis University, which awarded him his doctor of education in educational leadership and his educational specialist degree in superintendency. Before that, he earned a master of education and a bachelor of arts in psychology from the University of Missouri.

Besides his undergraduate and graduate studies, Dr. Hickman has taken continuing education courses like the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program. He also trained at the Mississippi Superintendent Academy and received national superintendent certification from the American Association of School Administrators.

In recent years, Dr. Hickman taught courses in education to graduate students as an adjunct professor at Lonestar College in Houston, Texas.
