Educator in The City of Big Shoulders

I am the Director for Instructional Technology for District 219 in Skokie, IL. Previously I have been a high school science instructor in both public and private high schools. I earned a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from National Louis University and a Masters in Instructional Technology from Northern Illinois University.

As funding for public education is continually drained by privatization and local funding issues, educators must begin to leverage the power of open tools including Open Education Resources (OER) and the wealth of distributed resources available by simply sharing. I believe the thoughtful application of technology facilitates rich communication and understanding in a world where knowing how to use information is increasingly important.

I am a Google Education Trainer and work with a variety of organizations including Illinois Computing Educators, Illinois Virtual Schools, and the National Repository for Online Courses.
