Philip Mesman

Philip Mesman is a licensed and certified private piano and guitar instructor in Oakville, Ontario. With more than eight years’ experience as a music teacher in Southern Ontario Mesman is extremely passionate that his pupils receive the best music education he can offer.

With a rich foundation in music history Philip Mesman graduated from McMaster University in 2004 with an Honors Bachelor Degree in Music. He then studied Music Pedagogy and Education at The University of British Columbia and graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Education. He then brought his unique music expertise back to Ontario where he teaches students music theory in addition to mastering the guitar and piano.

He is also holds a RCM Grade 6 certificate in Trumpet and an RCM Grade 2 certificate in Violin. Mesman has taught a variety of music classes in different genres (Classical orchestra, Concert band, Jazz ensemble, and a Rhythm and Blues band). He also earned a professional AQ and AM which qualified him to teach special needs children within Ontario schools.

Following the advice of one of his professors who told Mesman that young students learn better in familiar environments, Philip Mesman launched his private lessons business catering to busy families and families of young students who can’t trek back and forth to a formal studio. Mesman believes his in home services allow students to flourish and be comfortable which is important when trying to teach.

Philip Mesman of Oakville is not only a music educator he is an avid and accomplished musician who plays in a variety of jazz ensembles. Mesman’s jazz band has been invited to a number of festivals and events including the Toronto International Jazz Festival and Montreal’s popular jazz festival. In his spare time he also composes and even sings in a rock band. He has written pop songs, classical pieces, and a few jazz arrangements. Mesman also volunteers and assists with music programs in area grade schools and high schools as well as Oakville after school programs, instilling musicality and love for the arts in students all over Southern Ontario.
