Philippa Watkin

I am a research based filmmaker who explores ideas of xenophobia and otherness using techniques such as interviewing, archive research and visual culture theory.

Using this research I produce film and sound work to explore and discuss the ideas and situations that I have been questioning in my research.

My most recent film piece titled 'Common Clans' discusses the idea of otherness using my own personal story as an illustrative example. Looking at the towns of Blackburn, Burnley and Clitheroe through the use of interviews and personal reflection I have tried to explore ideas of otherness and tribal mentality.
