Phillip Lee

San Francisco, California, United States

I am currently a Freshman at Indiana University. I am heavily involved in community service because I have come to realize how fortunate I am, and get enjoyment out of helping people who may not have the same opportunities that I have had.

In high school I volunteered at the San Francisco Food Bank, and was also a volunteer coach for The First Tee of San Francisco, a non-profit golf organization that teaches underprivileged youth important life lessons through the game of golf. During my Freshman year at Indiana University, I participated in IUDM, the 2nd largest student-run philanthropy event in the world. Combining my efforts with those of my peers, we were able to raise over $3.6 million for Riley Children's Hospital. I participated in a number of other student run philanthropy events this year and plan on continuing to take part in these events to show support for members of my community that are raising money to aid various social issues.

In addition to participating in community service, I am an active member of Indiana University's Real Estate Club and am also a member of the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity on campus. While only a freshman, I have already been voted to be the head of my fraternity's Scholarship Committee next year. This duty will make me responsible for ensuring that the future associates of Phi Sigma Kappa are intelligent, hard-working students that place a high value on their academic success.
