Phillip Riley is a Southern Indiana local historian and writer focused on the pioneer, religious, cemetery, and frontier history of Clark County, Washington County, and the Knobstone region. His work follows overlooked settlements, early church networks, old roads, cemeteries, folklore, family connections, and local memory.

He contributes public history through Knobstone History and Willeys Chapel, combining newspaper research, local records, cemetery work, family histories, and regional storytelling. His aim is to recover the small places and half-remembered stories that shaped Southern Indiana but often fall outside the standard county-history narratives.
