David Phillips

The mix of molecules, experience, and spirit that is David Phillips has arrived! An ENFP never content with the status quo, I'm always plotting the next disruption in the current social context while navigating the latest twist in my own personal narrative. Life gives us two choices: adapt or perish. I'll choose "adapt" for now, even if I sometimes think "and I shaved my back for this?!"

Now, the boring stuff: Gay cisgender male delighted to be 46yo and coupled with a wonderful guy who challenges and encourages me for 3 years . Survivor of 28 surgeries in 31 years to treat hydrocephalus; 29 years with HIV, thanks to denial and some awesome genes. Raised in the Alexandria, VA kitchen of an Okie grandma; so, I've enjoyed cooking and baking forever. IT strategist by profession and deeply engaged in Gay men's and LGBT health and HIV activism. Working with awesome communities of character in producing the 2012 Gay Men's Health Summit in DC (July 20-21) and engaging the DC community around AIDS 2012, the major international AIDS conference (july 22-27).

Pursuing a Master of Public Health at the University of Maryland.....admittedly, very happy to finally be associated with a school with a great men's football team and a wide range of competitive inter-collegiate sports teams, but don't get me started on the new uniforms. Also hold an MS in information systems from George Washington University and a BA from Rice University
