Phil O'Dea

Hi Phil O'Dea here I currently live in Christchurch, New Zealand and have lived here since 1986. I was born in Dunedin around three and a half hours drive, south from here. While at School, St Pauls High on Rattray St I became interested in the Radio Business thanks to my brother inlaw Mike Baker. At seventeen years of age I started my twenty year Radio career as a part-time Radio Announcer on 4XO Dunedin (Radio Otago) doing the midnight till dawn show in the weekends. Upon leaving school I entered the Otago Univeristy where I spent one year studying Geography, History, Political Studies and working part-time on the air in the weekends. At the end of my first University year Radio Otago offered me a full-time job and the rest is history. I was offered a position on a new Radio Station here in Christchurch (C93FM) and that is why I moved here. I got out of Radio in 1999, sold advertising for Prime TV for a few years and then set up my own business 'The Carpet Company' which I still run. Kirk Findlater A friend also from Dunedin introduced me to the Flooring Industry, I sell not only Carpet but also Vinyl, Tiles and Timber and arrange to have it all installed. Interesting times are ahead for me after the recent devastating Earthquakes here in Christchurch and Canterbury. I am single, have no children and live on my own currently.
