After teaching middle school for 3 years in Washington, DC, I took an open ended trip to West Africa. That trip hasn't yet ended and I am now a semi-expat/semi-nomad based between Bamako, Mali and Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire. I run several blogs and websites (see http://philintheblank.net and http://sickontheroad.com for examples) along with a restaurant and catering project that I started with two Ivorian friends in Abidjan. I am also a camel drawing consultant.
