I am a reporter and editor specializing in sports writing. Working at the Lindenwood University student newspaper allows me to gain real-world experience working in many different areas of the newsroom. I have moved from being a reporter, to the sports editor and now the managing editor. Through these highly demanding jobs, I have enhanced my creativity, as well as my problem-solving skills. Working in both print and online, I have learned to adapt to the deadlines and time constraints that go with each different platform. I have shown my ability to write on a strict deadline following a game, routinely getting game stories out shortly following their conclusion. Whether on deadline or through in-depth pieces, I have shown the ability to produce quality content, building solid relationships with sources for day-to-day game stories as well as for more in-depth feature and profile stories. As part of being an editor, I work with a group of people on a daily basis, and use my leadership abilities to help create the best possible publication.
