KALYANI & NANDHINI

Kalyani and Nandhini hails from the family of legendary dancer Karaikkal Saradambal and grand daughters of Thanjai T.M.Vasudevan. They began their training under their mother Smt.Selvi Anandhan and later training under the illustrious Guru kalaimamani Smt K.J.Sarasa, a well known dance teacher, the first lady Nattuvanar and eminent Bharathanatyam exponent.Tanjore Sisters had their Arangetram in 2003.

Kalyani is a computer graduate and further pursued master degree in Bharathanatyam and M.Phil from university of Madras. She is now doing her Ph.D in Bharathanatyam. Nandhini is a Commerce graduate and further pursued master degree in Business Administration. She is now doing Master of fine arts in Bharathanatyam.

They have Performed in various dance festivals organized by the Department of Culture, SouthZone Cultural Centre, Tamilnadu Tourisim. Kalyani and Nandhini have given numerous performances in Dance Dramas choreographed by their Guru K.J.Sarasa and they also have given duo performance in many prestigious sabhas like Karthik Fine Arts, Parthasarathy swamy sabha, GanaMukuntha priya.

Kalyani has acquired proficiency in Nattuvangam and she had worked as a Guest Faculty for M.A (Bharathanatyam), Department of Indian Music,University of Madras. Tanjore Sisters continues to promote this traditional and spiritual art form Bharathanatyam through their dance school "PHRANAVAM". The focus of Pranavam is on creating a complete artist and they also teach theoretical nuances of dance. Now they are in Fifth Generation in their family to take this divine Art as their profession and dedicates themself to pursue this glorious art form Bharathanatyam.
