Phyllis has over 20 years’ experience inSales and Marketing in the fashion industry and over 10 years’ experience inproviding higher education in fashion. As a credential California Vocationa lInstructor she was a professor in the fashion programs for at Trade TechnicalCollege, Los Angeles; Orange Coast College, Costa Mesa; Mount San AntonioCollege, Walnut and currently at the Art Institute of California – Inland Empire.
Asthe National Sales and Marketing Manager for Los Angeles and Internationalfashion designers she was responsible for maintaining a multi-million dollarsbudget, wholesaling fashion products to retail stores in the US, working withthe media and the fashion consumer. Fashion brands she has marketed to major retailer such Nman Marcus,Nordstrom, Saks, and more are Ernst Strauss Inc, Jill Richards, Gollas America,and Kevan Hall Couture. Her sales careeralso includes 10 years with Nordstrom where she worked as the DepartmentManager for the Personal Shopping department for 6 years and as the Regional BreastHealth Coordinator for six stores. This is where her passion for helping BreastCancer Survivors began. In 1995, while at Nordstrom she began helping breastcancer survivors with their appearance needs as they were going throughtreatment. This was an “ AHA” moment forher. She began to learn all she couldabout the emotional and physical needs of these women so she could utilize herskills and resources at Nordstrom to make their illness a more manageableexperience. She led the team that beganthe Breast Health Program for Nordstrom in Costa Mesa, Brea, Cerritos, MainPlace, Montclair, and Riverside. This team opened the prosthesis area in thelingerie departments which offered custom prosthesis fitting for women withmastectomy, quality lingerie, and skin cream and accessories forsurvivors. In addition to offeringstellar products and services to the breast cancer survivor the team alsoparticipate in community events, such as the Komen Race for the Cure, KaiserPermanent Breast Cancer Awareness Program, and the American Cancer Societyevents. Each October Nordstrom sponsored a Breast Cancer Awareness Initiativewhich she created and produces. Phyllis is most proud of the event “Making the Most of Me” which became asignature event and ran for seven years.
