Piaras Jackson

Spiritual Director in Ireland

A native of Cappamore, County Limerick, Ireland, I was ordained for the dioceses of Cashel and Emly and was curate in Rinn ó gCuanach, Waterford, before studying religious education in Dublin and in New York. I worked widely in the catechetical field before joining the Society of Jesus in 2003. After novitiate in Birmingham, I studied journalism in Dublin City University and worked in communications in the Irish Jesuit province, editing and rebuilding Sacred Space, the daily prayer site before Tertianship. Trained in group facilitation and in spiritual direction, I am interested in processes that enable people to find freedom; I find the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius of Loyola a wonderful source of insight and have offered them to individuals in Ireland and beyond. I enjoyed the opportunities offered by being director of Manresa, Dublin's Jesuit Centre of Spirituality for ten years until 2022 before moving to Belfast.
