Back my campaign

We are foodies and we are travellers. In our journeys we have come across many hidden recipies that are handed down one generation to the next. They are pure and honest. They are not available outside these families.
Pickle Monk is an attempt to bring these hidden wonders to you, the descerning, appreciative connosier of great food.

The people behind the pickles.
On each of our pickles you will find the name of the family that has graciously shared the recipe. In many cases, they are are involved in creating it for you as well. These pickles are made in small batches, and often the families just make a few more bottles of the stuff they make for themselves. So it is natural that we often run out of them. In these situations we take your orders and prioritize it for you when the next batch arrives. Please bear with us.

The pickles

As you can imagine, traditional pickles dont use any artificial colours or preservatives. Usually if preserved well they last through the year, but since we remove them from the original jars and repack them in smaller bottles, some of them will not last too long. You might need to refregerate them once opened. All the pickles use local ingredients which are carefully selected, sun dried before being crushed in a stone grinder. There is often a bit of fanatic insistence on ingredients from s certain store or place. They incredible care that goes into making these pickles is really obvious.

We feel honoured to be able to share the food and love from these homes with you.

With love from the Vembanadan Backwaters of Kerala

Johnson, 60 and Mareena, 56 from the Vettikapally Kadambara family share family traditions handed down through generations through their non vegetarian pickles. The pickling tradition runs deep in the family. Each time a family member visits their home they rarely leave without a jar of the seasons pickle with them.
