Marcin Piczkowski

Born in in Zgierz in the middle of Poland nearby from Lodz yet as a young boy I exhibited an interest in science, first in biology, then it evolved into math & phisics and to computer science now.

Consequently I begun studies at the Technical University of Lodz in 2001 at the Dept. of Microelectronics and Computer Science (http://www.dmcs.pl).

In 2005 I made a half-year scholarship at the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya, Barcelona (http://www.upc.edu/) where worked on a project of “Multi-language high-level translation platform for embedded system design”.

Graduated in 2007 with thesis on “Translation from VHDL to Petri Nets - practical case study”.

Yet as a student in 2006 I begun in the company Transition Technologies S.A. as a Java developer.

Over the years I passed through multiple responsibilities - from Technical Leader to Career Coach. I found particularly interesting long-term activity in Airbus dedicated projects.

In 2012 I started to work in lingaro.com as Java/Grails developer.

What motivates me very much at wor is cooperating in international environment.

I spend my free time on sport, reading, discovering the world, maximizing the amount of life in life :) being active, travelling, watching documentary films and learning about places which I hope to visit one day myself.

Since I lived in Spain (or if you will, Catalunya ;)) I find this place very sentimental and like jump in to Barcelona whenever I have chance.

I am also passionate about Japan, its culture and tradition.

Having an engineer's soul I keep an eye on new software development trends and try some of them myself.

Sometimes I jump into a software conference, which I find a good way for continuous improvement of skills and mind-broadening.

Finally, socialising, which not necessarily means only Facebook but preferably face-to-face meetings. Hanging around in a pub with friends or dancing is a good option.

My favourite climate is Latin music but classical dance goes well too ;)
