Pierhor SA was founded in 1899 and is the oldest Swiss jewel-bearing factory still in operation. Since inception, it has specialised in ruby production, supplying primarily major Swiss watchmaking brands.

Gasser-Ravussin SA was founded in 1927 as a pioneer in ruby and sapphire laser machining. It also specialised in jewel-bearing production for the watchmaking sector and diversified into non-watchmaking activities.

In 2017 the Acrotec Group acquired the two companies, and in 2018 they merged to become Pierhor-Gasser SA. This new, independent entity pools over 200 years of expertise in supplying the watchmaking industry with high-quality synthetic stones. After decades of specialisation in serving high-end watchmakers, the company extended activities to other sectors like medical, electronics and micromechanics. Pierhor-Gasser guarantees 100% Swiss-made products and is one of the first Swiss manufacturers of synthetic jewels to achieve ISO 13485 certification.
