Recognized as a highly skilled Associate Professor of the School of Health and Medical Sciences at Seton Hall University, Dr. Carlisle Piersol is a certified Health Education Specialist. Dr. Piersol has had a range of research interests that include organizational sense making, the development of strategic thinking capability, and health care leadership, particularly as it pertains to the related concerns for the top management team of the School of Health and Medical Sciences at Seton Hall University. He has been teaching students in the MHA and MPA programs several diverse topics including global health, emergency preparedness, program evaluation, health management, and strategic planning.
Dr. Carlisle Piersol’s academic career follows his previous executive career. He used to be the CEO and COO of a New Jersey community hospital. He served as Regional VP for a national health insurer as well as the Senior VP for a regional managed care organization. Dr. Piersol is a certified Energy Leadership Index Master Practitioner (ELI-MP). He is also a Fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives (ACHE). At Salisbury University, he used to be the School Health Education Program Director.
Dr. Piersol graduated from Otterbain College with a Bachelor of Science degree. He successfully earned a Master of Science in Health degree at the University of Florida. He also holds a Doctor of Education degree from George Washington University. Dr. Carlisle Piersol has been on the faculty of Seton Hall University since 2002. He has been teaching leadership and research courses to students enrolled in the Department of Inter-professional Health Sciences and Health Administration.
Dr. Carlisle Piersol is a prolific author who has come out with many book chapters and articles on the promotion of mindfulness, well-being, exercise motivation and online learning. He has committed himself to promoting the lifespan and well-being through individual and organizational change. Dr. Piersol is highly interested in how the organizational performance in health care organizations is affected by generational differences.
