Pieter Verhoeven
Pieter can trace back his Youth for Christ history to attending a Youth for Christ bible study in 1972. His involvement over the years has included many different roles first as a volunteer, then a part-time and finally a full-time staff member. In 1984 Pieter began fulltime vocational ministry with Youth for Christ in Geelong, Australia, reaching young people for Christ through school clubs, youth employment programs, youth rallies, schools ministry and then moving into an administrative role. Early in his ministry with Youth for Christ Pieter prayed the prayer of Jabez “Oh, that you would bless me and expand my territory!” 1 Chronicles 4:10. He prayed thinking that an increasing number of young people in the Geelong region would be reached for Christ – little did he know! Pieter and Megan married in 1990 and then after ten years of ministry with Youth for Christ in Geelong, Pieter took on a role with Youth for Christ in Australia as the National Administrator in 1994 and in July the following year their daughter Lauren was born. In 2000 Pieter accepted a new role with Youth for Christ in the Asia Pacific as the Chief Operations Officer and their son William was born just 2 years later. Pieter and Megan felt the ‘expanding of territory’ had been fulfilled but God wasn’t finished yet. In 2000, at the worldwide Youth for Christ General Assembly, God began a process that led Pieter, Megan, Lauren and William, to the USA. Pieter accepted a role with Youth for Christ in 2005 as part of the Youth for Christ Catalyst Team. Pieter currently serves as the Director of Operations and Communications for Youth for Christ.
Youth for Christ Catalyst Team
Catalyst: a substance that causes or accelerates a chemical reaction.
The Youth for Christ Catalyst Team is a worldwide team whose vision, strategy and resources serve to inspire, strengthen and advance local Youth for Christ ministry to be more effective. A team of people, at Youth for Christ’s International Service Centre based in Denver, Colorado, USA and regional centres around the globe, work together as a catalyst within the Youth for Christ movement. Their roles vary but at the heart of all they do there is a commitment to empower indigenous ministry to engage, equip and empower young people with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
